Apparently, a cellular provider in the United Arab Emirates encouraged users to install a "performance update" on their Blackberries, which ultimately turned out to be surveillance software. The spyware, incidentally, wasn't produced by some illicit hacker in a dark apartment somewhere. It's authored by a company in California.
